How Metaverse Can Impact Your lifestyle

Consider you are going for a walk down the street. You suddenly remember a thing you require. A device emerges right next to you, stocked with various options of the product that you were considering. You come to a halt, select an item from the machine, have it delivered to your home, and then resume your journey.

Welcome the metaverse, where people work, enjoy, and interact in parallel digital realities. You may name it whatever you want - the metaverse, the AR Cloud, the mirror world, the spatial internet, the magic verse, or live paps - one thing is for sure. It's coming, and it's going to be massive.

Companies working on metaverse like the rebranding of Facebook as Meta made a major splash. Microsoft recently announced that its famous video collaboration tool, Mesh by Microsoft Teams, will incorporate quasi-metaverse functionality.

Other well-known metaverse companies such as Niantic, Epic Games, Nvidia, Decentraland, and Apple are all attempting to revolutionize this cutting-edge technology. However, they raise some important considerations, such as how this new online experience, known as the metaverse, will alter our lives? Will it have an effect on businesses and the way we work? What effect will it have on the e-learning process and online-teaching apps?

So, here's how metaverse trends might impact your lifestyle. But before that, let’s have a quick glance at what metaverse means.

What is metaverse?

Metaverse is a digital universe that may be accessed through virtual and augmented reality. It will not only encompass full virtual reality spaces, but it will also allow a layer of digital information to be placed in the real world via digital headsets or eyeglasses.

Based on strategy analytics metaverse and research from Newzoo, PWC, IDC, Two Circles, and Statista, the metaverse market might reach $783.3 billion in 2024, up from $478.7 billion in 2020, suggesting an annual growth rate of 13.1 percent. It will not only be the next-gen feature for digital interaction but will also impact our lives in different aspects. Here's how.

  • The economic impact of the metaverse - Companies will have to shift their marketing strategy from online ad purchases to a shared, virtual economy. In the metaverse, businesses will need to analyze the market on their prospective clients. People's behavior and interests in the metaverse may be quite different from their behavior and shopping habits in real life. It all starts to make sense when you add in the layer of business from robot to customer, where automated systems and bots own the relationship with customers.
  • Virtual shopping through metaverse - Online purchasing is more than just digitally trying on items that customers can buy in person. In the metaverse, virtual fashions, avatar "skins," and virtual real estate (houses, automobiles, etc.) will all have their own value. With a digital in-home style experience that doesn't necessitate a trip to the store, furniture purchasing takes on a whole new meaning. Retailers will be able to use new VR and AR technologies to utilize the e-commerce space for a more full "omnichannel" purchasing experience that pulls together consumers' digital and physical worlds.
  • Real-time conferencing and gaming - Next year, Microsoft will introduce its Mesh for Microsoft Team solution, which will bring virtual avatars and holograms to its famous workplace video conferencing platform. Microsoft's approach is more akin to mixed reality, as it combines the real environment with parts of augmented reality and virtual reality. Microsoft's VR and AR technologies aren't neglecting the entertainment industry. HTC and HP, in addition to Microsoft, sell a variety of headsets and accessories geared to maximize the Xbox's VR gaming potential. Minecraft, a beloved virtual world among children, allows players to create their own digital character and build whatever they like.

Apart from all the above aspects, another inevitable part of our life will be influenced by the metaverse. That’s education.

Since early 2020, global education settings have been responding to change, with the pandemic disrupting the schooling of 91 percent of pupils globally, according to UNICEF. Educators throughout the world reacted promptly. Remote learning became commonplace overnight. As a result, technology became regarded as a basic right rather than a privilege.

The metaverse's rudimentary forms are already familiar to today's generation. Minecraft, a game that encourages anonymous users to collaborate organically, has already gained over 140 million players worldwide. Today, students can focus more when they feel interested in the topic. And learning is most effective when it is enjoyable, according to several studies, like online apps for teachers that allow them to easily interact with students in a more engaging and productive manner. The future of teaching is the gamification of education.

This is why online-teaching apps and the metaverse are such a perfect fit for the classroom. The domains of science, mathematics, and engineering will all be impacted by this integrated learning experience. Students will be given a real-life scenario that combines all three disciplines into a single, engaging, and comprehensive learning experience.

Technological advancements for effective teaching & learning experience

The classroom is no longer merely a room. Students and instructors may now venture beyond their classrooms into carefully crafted learning experiences. Students may experience completely immersive courses on different eras in history or the inner workings of a car's engine using virtual reality (VR) goggles. While on a field trip, students may utilize augmented reality (AR), glasses, or their smartphone to walk about and "see" what the place used to look like, as well as facts about everyday living and historical events. However, if the students employ mixed reality (MR) technology during the same field trip, they will be able to physically connect with the online historical structures and take up the digital relics.

Students who prefer a discovery-based learning method instead of the traditional way of learning will benefit from augmented reality and the virtual world. They may study at their own pace and experiment in a secure setting while still being supervised and guided by the teacher. Not just educators but also professionals in the fields of communications, marketing, and branding, will confront new obstacles as well as new possibilities. This new metaverse age will unleash incredible creativity while also opening up new vistas and possibilities for companies and enterprises.
